As the Black Label Society prepared for the “UNBLACKENED” show at Club Nokia and Los Angeles, I was asked to document everything from rehearsal to show.
The UNBLACKENED show was recorded for both a DVD and Audio CD to come out in August.
In speaking with Zakk, there may be a photo book to accompany the DVD and CD. For those of you who didn’t get a chance to go, here is a sneak peak of what went on.
I want to thank the following people: Zakk and Barbranne Wylde, Black Label Society Band and Crew, Eagle Rock Entertainment, AXIS TV, Blasko, Dave “Punk Rick Dave” Lapham, Mark Ferguson, Brandon (Production Runner) Christenson, and Survival Management
Black Veil Brides at Hollywood House of Blues
The Black Veil Brides returned to Los Angeles to a Sold Out House of Blues. Fan lined up hours before the show to catch a glimpse of the band walking from the bus to the venue. If you haven’t been to at BVB show, let me tell you. Their fans are some of the most rabid and loyal fans. I was given the opportunity to shot their KILLER set. I truly believe the Jake and Jinxx are the future of guitar hero’s. Ashley and CC lay down the bombastic rhythm section. Andy is one of the most charismatic front men I have seen in a long time. This band is destined to headline arena’s soon!!!
During their show while shooting, their fans sung along with EVERY song!!! They ended their set with the lead single from “Wretched and Devine: The Story of the Wild Ones” “In the End”. Two cannons on the side of the stage unleashed a massive amount of confetti!!! When they come to your town, you’ve gotta check them out!!!
Scott Uchida – March 9, 2013

I would like to thank the following bands for keeping me busy: Stone Sour Band and Crew, Papa Roach Band and Crew, Schecter guitars, The Butcher Babies, Eagle Entertainment, Morrissey Band and Crew and Black Veil Brides band and Crew
Coming soon are some exclusive shots of Zakk Wylde and the Black Label Society!
February – 2013
Thus far 2013 has been a busy one for me! I started the year off by shooting a band I really like called “Day Above Ground” at the Hollywood House of Blues.
Soon after, I was off to the Hollywood Palladium to shoot the mighty Pennywise!!! Yep, Pennywise is one of my favorite all time punk rock bands and on this night they re-united with singer Jim put on one of the most KILLER show I have seen them play. I’ve been to a lot of Pennywise shows, these were among the best and they played to a sold out crowd over two nights. Also on the bill was Strung Out and Lag Wagon.
Then came the studio sessions with Jeremy Spencer (Five Finger Death Punch), Morgan Renee , Taylor Brynne and taking pictures of Jason Hook’s (Five Finger Death Punch) new signature guitar for his website you can check out HERE. The Jeremy shoot was for an upcoming feature story for a tattoo magazine that will be coming soon. As you will see on the Taylor shoot, I experimented with a different look using water in a shot at the studio.
January is also the month of the annual NAMM show. In between my duties with Dunlop at NAMM in Anaheim over the four days- I actually took some time to shoot a MUSE show at Staples Center. I shot night two of three total sold out shows.
Lastly, I’ve updated the home page with some additional shots.
Enjoy the pics & see you next month!
As a sit at my computer and write this, I’m thinking so much about the Mayan calendar… the day is still young, but there is no end in sight. I don’t think there will be…but just in case…I have compiled some of MY favorite images of 2012.
There are a lot of the same artists depicted here, but the year of 2012 was one that was defined by traveling with them!
Please note, these images represent not only the artist, but also the imagery and the moment the picture taken.
Finally, I would like to say a special thanks to the artists, bands, crew members and management teams. I had the time of my life traveling and documenting these moments of 2012, so thanks to: Slash band and crew, Five Finger Death Punch band and crew, Trivium band and crew, Slipknot band and crew , Lamb of God band and crew, Halestorm band and crew, In This Moment band and crew, Deftones band and crew, Machine Head band and crew, Duff McKagan band and crew, Zakk Wylde band and crew, Mastodon band and crew, Hatebreed band and crew, Day Above Ground band and crew, Adelitas Way band and crew, Jeff Varner, Jodi Emond, Andrea Yee, Nick John, Andrew Stuart, Kristen Muldereg, Graham Martin, Corey Brennan, Justin Arcangel, Diony Sepulveda, Ryan DeMarti, Maria Ferro, Konstance Louden, Jackie Kaiser, John Reece, Danny Wiemer, Brent Hamilton, Danielle Howorth and Westley Anderson To the models: Ivy D’Muerta, Kirsty Lingman, Morgan Renee, Brittany Denaro, Katherine Hartley, and Brooke Knight. All of your beauty is timeless!!
To my fellow shooters- Paul Hebert, Kevin Estrada, Randy Johnson, Ryan Espinoza, Stephanie Cabral, Chelsea Lauren, Neil Lim Sang, Chris Loois, Corey Soria, Scott Legato, Andrew Stuart, Travis Shinn -all of you are my good friends! No competition and ego’s here…just good times with good friends!!! Lastly, to my Mentor-Neil Zlozower, A HUGE THANKS.
Of course, thanks also to my family (and webmaster Jim) for putting up with my shit all year!!!
See you all in 2013!!!
As the year 2012 comes to an end, I had the wonderful experience taking photo’s of the beautiful Ivy D’Muerta. She has a classic look and is a stunner, making Ivy one of the most sought after tattoo models in the industry. This photo shoot was really fun, as you can see below!
I would like to give a shout out to Ivy, and Red Dodge (Hair and Make-up). Also to Bobby, Brendan, and Taylor for their help!
See you all in 2013!
The Wiltern – Los Angeles, CA
As the 2012 “season” comes to a close, I wanted to showcase the last show of Slash’s 2012 world tour.
The Wiltern show was actually a make up show for the one that was cancelled due to Myles being sick awhile back. It’s true that good things come to those who wait- and in this instance were forced to! On this night, the band was simply AMAZING as the killed it for the sold out crowd.
Slash and the band did not disappoint- and as a result, they played a longer set than usual. As you’ll see below, these show was a lot of fun shoot, and the images are some of the best I have shots I have taken all year!
I want to thank Slash, Myles, Brent, Dammitt, Frank, Varner, Jodi, Andrea, Pete, Ace, Ian, Capt. Kuntz. Quake, Sam and the rest of the Slash camp for letting me be a part of the 2012 tour. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’ll see you all in 2013!
Oh yeah- I will have one more post in 2012. I recently did a photo shoot with Ms. Ivy DeMuerta. That will be coming really soon!
It was a really busy month of November for me in Los Angeles!
I didn’t have any travel at all last month, which is a nice change of pace for me, as this year has been full of travel- some of it documented here!
I’ve decided to post some of my favorite images that I took in November:
I would like to say thanks to the bands and crews as always for making it a pleasure to do what I love to do. So thanks, Lamb of God, In Flames, Hatebreed, Deftones, Halestorm, In This Moment, and Machine Head- here’s to a terrific December and beyond!
This past weekend I spent my time with Duff McKagan and his band Loaded. I shot the photos in black and white as Duff and I were going for a different look from what’s been shot recently. Additionally, the lighting was not ideal at the locations, so B&W seemed like the right call.
I’m posting rehearsals for his “book reading” show this past Monday in North Hollywood, as well as his regular Loaded shows on Tuesday night at The Viper Room, and Wednesday in Indio.
I highly recommend going to one of his book reading shows!!!
I have read the book, but this format really make you want to revisit it again.
I would like to say thank you to Duff, Squires, Rouse, Burke, Bobby Brunner, Janean, Mary Beth and The Viper Room.
September 12, 2012
I haven’t posted all summer! With all the travel, photos and more to go through, I simply ran out of time. This was a very exciting summer for me. I spent a lot of time with Slash and Band, Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Trivium, Nickelback, Bush, My Darkest Days, Slayer, Linkin Park and Motorhead.
I also have some exciting things coming up. There is a new Slash book coming out in November! In the book there will be some of my candid shots during the making of “Apocalyptic Love.”
Zakk Wylde and I are again talking about a book that would contain candids from the beginning of the “Order of the Black” tour- to present day.
I also just shot the cover for an upcoming book by Jeremy Spenser of Five Finger Death Punch!!
Here are some highlights of this past summer:
